I’m a horrible food photographer

Once upon a time when food reviews were still read and talked about in the news paper I thought it would be a great idea to start reviewing food. The platform was Google Reviews and I wanted to break the ground and become a super food reviewer. The problem was that my pictures just never looked like the beautiful photos that apparently everyone knew how to take. No matter how I tried to plate my food, change the angle of my camera it just would not come out how I wanted it to come out. I came to the conclusion that my photography skills when it comes to food just isn’t a thing.
You know I tried to google and find out what it takes to have better photos of your food. Well, for those of you know who knew me, I was never an iPhone guy and well during those days Android was notorious for having horrendous cameras on their phones. As you scroll through my pictures you will see what I am talking about. Blurry, low light and probably the worst possible angle you could ever take a photo.
Sometimes you need to get extra help so you can take great photos. Knowing me, I’ll go an entire lifetime before I get that extra help, stubbornness is a trait that I am working on. Now that 2020 has put a big pause button on the entire world, I have decided that when I come out of this quarantine I want to have some a new set skills that I can be proud of and taking pictures and writing better reviews is one of them.
Rules for Better Food Photography
Photos with Natural Light
Don’t settle until you get the best light
Location. Location. Location
Organize your clutter
These are the main rules for any great photograph. This applies in real life photography as well. The rest of the things I googled about great food photography was to buy expensive cameras, lenses and lighting equipment. Ain’t nobody got time for that! When you have to run and gun, you can’t be dragging equipment with you wherever you go, so you just have to make sure you have the best possible outcome with the circumstances you are in. I hope I read back on this blog in a year and I can share with you some fantastic photos of all the food my friends bring me to eat! Here are few more horrible food photos of mine.
